50 dress object-paintings, clothes rail, gloves, 4 nails; text instructions for viewer
Installation-size variable
Text: The four dress ‘object-paintings’ hanging in a row on the wall together compose a performed painting. Dozens of other dress ‘object-paintings’ hang from the clothes rail nearby.
How do you like the combination on the wall? If you’d like to change it, please choose a dress ‘object-painting’ from the clothes rail and exchange it for one on the wall. Return the de-selected dress ‘object-painting’ to the clothes rail. Keep on re-arranging the four dress ‘object-paintings’ hanging on
the wall until you feel satisfied with the composition.

Up & Down, 2016
Installation audience interactive painting
dress object-painting (chiffon and cotton fabric & thread, approx. 147 x 40 x 20cm)
pulley, hook, rope, text instructions for the viewer
Text: Do you prefer the ‘dress object-painting’ when it’s suspended in the air, or does it look better collapsed in a heap on the ground? Or rising up from or sinking into the cloth pooled beneath it? You are invited raise or lower the ‘dress object-painting’ until you find a position for it that seems right to you. Please release the rope from the hook on the wall to activate the ‘dress object-painting’ and when you’ve decided on its position, fix the rope by wrapping it around the hook back on the wall.
